Inspirations for Life! PLATEAUS! Time to Re-assess!

By Deb Powell, Healthy Planet columnist

When we reach a plateau it’s telling us something:

We need to change what we’re doing…

We’re not doing what we should…

            We’re right where we’re supposed to be…

Plateaus can mean several things. Many of you know six months ago I changed what and how I ate, to lose weight. I started eating mostly how we would if foraging. I began eating fresh, raw, less, slowly, and chewing more. If we would eat like this we would be healthier and so would the environment. I feel like a new person, physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally! I feel SO good! The best part is my mindset has not changed, even with this plateau. I want to be healthy and at my proper weight. Period! I’m still down 30 pounds! Giving my body time to adjust, then aiming for 10 more.☺

I encourage and challenge you to make the changes you need to get yourself healthy. Eating like this is simple and you’ll love the results. You can do this!

Many times I’ve stood up to my family and friends for what I believed in. I did it with my faith, when I quit drinking and smoking, when I became a vegetarian, then vegan, and then raw vegan. During these journeys I slipped and fell but I always got back up, or admitted I was wrong or misled, but I never quit.

Todays’ food is the main cause of disease, weight issues, and depression. We’re feeding our bodies and brains garbage. Eating the containers would be healthier. Sadly, too many people are harmed and discouraged from over-exercising. They think food won’t make them gain weight or hurt them if they exercise. I thought this when seeing an obese young woman happily drinking a very large, thick, creamy drink from a fast food place. People really don’t understand the effects of these fast and processed foods that are promoted daily, and claim to be healthy. Believe me, they’re not! They’re nothing but fillers, garbage, coloring, fat, salt, sugar, and chemicals. They have very little nutritional value. We really are eating non-food items.

It’s never too late to start a healthy lifestyle!
