Irresistible Community Builders, LLC presents: Climate Restoration — Terraforming the Earth

By Tom Braford

The term ‘terraforming’ usually describes how we can utilize the science of biomimicry to make other planets more Earth-like and habitable to human beings.

A friend, Peter Fiekowsky, an MIT-trained physicist and engineer and climate activist, shares my concerns about climate change and has been researching mostly hard science solutions for years, while I have been dabbling in hard sciences but mostly focused on the social science side.

Peter and I understand that both are needed, so we have participated in Citizens’ Climate Lobby, have presented together at the Conference for Global Transformation and share the realization that all these solutions need to be implemented at scale now, even as research continues.

Peter just recently presented his latest findings and proposals at the 50th anniversary of the UN Environment Assembly in Sweden, and he describes them in his new book, Climate Restoration: The Only Future That Will Sustain the Human Race

This gives us all reason for optimism that the combination of at-scale, bottom-up Carbon Drawdown and Climate Regeneration solutions that are an integral part of our Network of Ecovillages and Peter’s four promising terraforming solutions can now be safely used to have Planet Earth look and perform in the more optimal way that it did when the CO2 content of our atmosphere was under 300 PPM, as measured at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii.

The really good news is that in just 10 years one of these could get us back to the conditions we enjoyed before all the forest fires and really crazy weather patterns got started. But we have to jump on it now,

The way to do that, of course, is for us to realize, as Rusty Schweickart so famously said, “We’re not passengers on Spaceship Earth. We’re the crew.”

Peter’s Foundation for Climate Restoration will soon be training Ground Crew members for various aspects of the global terraforming projects. We will be training Exploration Crew members for Drawdown and Regeneration implementation, which will include a lot of Ecovillage site terraforming projects that could be considered local proof of concept for the global projects. We invite you to be co-creators of both!
