Irresistible Community Builders, LLC presents: Pivot To Community

By Tom Braford

When we pivot toward a more cohesive society and regenerative economy in service to life, we are taking a huge step to create a civilization and planet that work for all with no one left out and with no offense to Nature.

Nowhere is this more obvious than in the development of net positive food, power, water, employment and transportation, Draw-down Ecovillage communities that produce zero waste and short-cycle and permanently sequester carbon, as well.

Groups of 150 to 200 individuals, living and working in Drawdown Ecovillage communities, can reduce their carbon footprint to zero. If we create a regional network of Drawdown communities and take that to scale in similar regional networks across the country, this strategy would soon be in the realm of the top 80 Drawdown strategies listed by Paul Hawken.

The entrepreneurial opportunity related to this pivot quickly becomes obvious when we consider the potential economic impact. Only seven of the 80 Drawdown strategies have negative net cost. When taken to scale, this breakthrough strategy would come in fourth on the list of net-positive strategies.

As Hunter Lovins and her co-authors so eloquently pointed out in their seminal book, A Finer Future: an economy in service to life, our culture and economy must pivot soon or risk total collapse. This dire warning is a two-edged sword that also comes with a prescription that visionary entrepreneurs and the rest of us can follow to a guaranteed abundant future.

At Arizmendi Ecovillage, we are creating a regenerative economic hub where we can live and work in cooperation with our neighbors and in harmony with Nature.

This is where you can take actions that make a difference. Join us for a discussion of Hunter’s new book and how we can harness the power of community to pivot to a finer future. We will gather for conversation and a potluck dinner from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Ecovillage on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
