Several years ago, we began using a new dental product in our office called MI Paste. Introduced in 2002, it has received rave reviews for its effectiveness, not only from dentists, but also from dental hygienists and patients alike.
MI Paste is the only product for professional use containing the active ingredient Recaldent. Recaldent is a special milk-derived protein that’s a breakthrough in oral health care to assist in remineralizing teeth. It’s a water-based, sugar-free topical creme with a special blend of polishing, cleaning and dentinal tubule sealing agents.
This paste works in conjunction with the mouth’s saliva to protect teeth and soft tissues, flush bacteria and food away from the teeth and reduce enamel abrasion. The key to success with MI Paste is the increase to saliva flow. It is the saliva that actually remineralizes the tooth surface and works to repair the demineralized areas of the teeth.
The increased saliva flow helps restore normal pH levels in the mouth and replenishes the important minerals needed to rebuild the tooth enamel, which includes calcium and phosphate ions.
What does this mean for you? The benefits are:
• Reduces tooth sensitivity and restores enamel gloss after whitening procedures
• Partially relieves dry mouth caused by certain medications
• Combats dental decay
• Reduces high oral acid levels caused from excessive soft drink consumption
• Reduces the white spots from post orthodontic treatment
MI Paste is not a toothpaste. It is a topical tooth crème. After brushing, use your finger or Q tip to apply/swab a generous amount of MI Paste to the tooth surfaces. Use your tongue to spread the remaining paste throughout the mouth. Floss MI Paste in between your teeth and gums.
You should leave the paste undisturbed for a minimum of three minutes. You don’t need to rinse or spit out. Multiple applications during the day are acceptable without any damage to the tooth surface. Applying the product before bedtime is also suggested since this allows the material to dissolve slowly overnight.
Caution: People with MILK PROTEIN allergies should NOT use this or any other product containing Recaldent since Recaldent is derived from milk.
I’ve been impressed with the results of this product. I highly recommend it to our patients suffering from any of the symptoms mentioned above. For more information, go online or simply call our office and ask about the MI Paste phenomenon.
