If you haven’t come out to New Town at St. Charles to participate in all the activities offered, than you are missing out on one of the greatest venues for family entertainment in the area. For over five years now New Town has been providing a full summer schedule of fun and free events, and who isn’t looking for free entertainment these days? Since first setting up the screen on the amphitheatre stage in 2005, New Town has hosted over 100 Friday night outdoor movies presenting everything from Disney classics to Pixar favorites and even Hitchcock thrillers. Hundreds of people come up with blankets and lawn chairs to relax under the stars and catch a favorite flick. Grab a snack from Marsala’s Market or enjoy ice cream treats from Bonnidels as you wait for the sun to go down and the picture to begin. Movie nights are open to everyone and admission is free!
The New Town amphitheatre has also hosted countless music concerts with great performances by talented acts like Ticket To The Beatles, The St. Charles County Youth Orchestra, the mercurial Zack Weber and the magnificent Erin Bode. In addition thousands have enjoyed the yearly music festivals featuring the best of the best in Jazz, Blues, Reggae and Bluegrass. Make an evening of it and enjoy dinner at any of New Town’s eateries all located within yards of the amphitheatre. The music festivals are the highlight of the season where neighbors and friends gather in groups to share food and drink and children run and play while young people with hula-hoops and glow-sticks dance the night away. Once again the shows are free and open to the public.
In addition to movies and music the New Town amphitheatre has been host to Shakespeare in the park, various holiday functions, BBQ showdowns, art shows and more, so needless to say there is something for everyone to enjoy!
New Town residents are proud of their vibrant community and welcome everyone to come visit and see just how much fun New Town living really is. Many people tell the story of attending one of our special events, while visiting family or friends and falling in love with the place to the extent that they now call New Town home.
