Fine, Folk, and Fun Artwork by Best of Missouri Hands Juried Members
Treat yourself to an artful extravagance at ARTstravaganza! at its new home in ArtSpace in Crestwood Court on the first weekend in November. The 9th annual ARTstravaganza! art festival features fine, fun and folk artwork by The Best of Missouri Hands (BOMH) juried artist members.
The show opens Friday, Nov. 5 with a Moonlight Reception from 4 pm to 10 pm; continues Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, Nov. 7, from 11 am to 4 pm. ARTstravaganza is free to the public.
Inside ArtSpace, more than 30 BOMH Juried Artists from all over the state will present a spectacular array of work in clay, jewelry, photography, wood, glass, metal, naturals, mixed media and more. At Friday’s Moonlight Reception, visitors will enjoy wine tasting from Wenwood Farm Winery. Live music will be provided by the Classical Guitar Society.
Artists who are juried members of the Best of Missouri Hands are considered the best artists in the state. They are selected on the basis of the quality and originality of their work. They have exceeded the standard for mere competence in their field and risen to the level of excellence.
Artists in the show will also be furthering the careers of aspiring artists through the generosity of a grant from Regional Arts Commission. The artists will be visiting St. Louis area high schools and colleges for Question-&-Answer sessions on what it’s like to be a professional artist. These visits will occur during the week prior to ARTstravaganza!
Additionally, the artists who participate in ARTstravaganza! each year donate original artwork to be auctioned by the Carney’s Kids Foundation, headed by KMOX radio personality John Carney. In the past four years, these artists’ donations have raised over $4,000 for Carney’s Kids which, in turn, supports area children’s charities. These items will be displayed and auctioned at the Carney’s own annual fundraiser in October.
The Best of Missouri Hands, also known as Missouri Artisans Association, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and recognition of Missouri’s artists through education, interaction and encouragement. Our growing membership represents every level of expertise from emerging artists to nationally and internationally acclaimed professionals, as those in ARTstravaganza.
ArtSpace at Crestwood Court is located inside the former Crestwood Plaza, at the corner of Watson and Sappington. There is plenty of free parking and lots of room to browse the art.
