Webster University Hosts Inaugural Sustainability Conference April 16

State of Sustainability

in Higher Education and Our Role in Society

Elizabeth Stroble, president of Webster University, is pleased to announce its first-time sustainability conference entitled:  State of Sustainability in Higher Education and Our Role in Society.  The conference will be held on April 16, 2012 and features Keynote Speaker, Paul Rowland, Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

The conference will be held  9:30 am until 5 pm, in the East Academic Building and Community Music School, Webster University Webster Groves Campus, 470 E. Lockwood Avenue (designated parking on Garden Avenue), St. Louis, MO  63119. Open to students, faculty, staff and the general public. Admission is $5 for students (with ID from any educational institution) and $10 for all others.  Admission includes lunch. The conference will feature over 100 presentations by leading-edge thought leaders on Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability topics.

Paul Rowland, Executive Director of AASHE was one of the founders of the Ponderosa Project at Northern Arizona University where he served in a variety of capacities including Director of the Center for Environmental Sciences and Education, Coordinator of Environmental Education, and Director of Academic Assessment. More recently he has served as Dean of the School of Education at The University of Montana and Dean of the College of Education at the University of Idaho. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University and an M.S. in Ecology and a B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University. AASHE is an independent 501(c)(3).  Institutional membership includes every individual at an institution.
