Join us at the Bald Knob Cross for the 89th Annual Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 20th at 6:30 am.

Bald Knob Cross

This Southern Illinois landmark continues the Easter Sunrise Service tradition surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest near the small town of Alto Pass, Illinois. Bald Knob Mountain itself towers 1000 feet above sea level and serves as a monument of peace, faith, charity, and of hope. Towering above the landscape at over 111 feet, and visible for over 7,500 square miles, this is the Bald Knob Cross of Peace – one of the largest crosses in the United States.

The gates will open to the public at 5:00 am. We encourage participants to arrive early and bring their own chair(s). If you are unable to join us on-site, we will be broadcasting the service on our Facebook as will WFCN News via their Facebook channel. The service starts at 6:30 am but the preliminaries will start at 6 am.

The service will include both traditional and contemporary service elements featuring Glendall Toney of Carbondale, Illinois, Pastor of Neighborhood Bible Fellowship. Praise and Worship led by Chris Parton, joined by a regional worship team.

Stop by the information table to pick up a special event program or to make a donation to help offset the costs of the event and support the Cross. There will not be an offering taken during the service, but donations will be accepted at the gate upon entrance. If you require handicapped parking, please turn on your flashing hazard lights and a parking attendant will direct you to reserved parking. Golf Cart shuttles will be available to transport the disabled, seniors, and families.

The Welcome Center will have items for sale on the morning of the service, including Easter Sunrise Service shirts available for sale. Bald Knob Cross and Dave’s Bagels will be serving breakfast Easter morning along with additional drink options from Fire and Ice. www.baldknobcross.com
