Long summer days and loud camper cheers. Moments that start with “Hey remember that time when…”
It won’t be long before a new group of campers will be experiencing Camp Lakewood overnight summer camp for the first time, and our returning campers will add to their list of “remember that time” moments!
Located in Potosi, Mo., Camp Lakewood is where your kid can have fun, learn new skills and make new friends. An ACA-accredited, overnight resident camp for boys and girls ages 6-17, Camp Lakewood has something for everyone including 4-day mini-camps, one-week or two-week camp experiences, and leadership programs for those considering being a camp counselor.
In addition to choosing which session to attend, Camp Lakewood campers also choose from a variety of clinics, electives, and smorgasbords to round out their camp experience.
From campfires to water and adventure activities to camp games, campers delight in waking up with a sense of excitement as to what each day at camp will bring.
New programs for 2019 include:
Ozark Adventure Trip: This one week session focuses on paddling techniques and “Leave No Trace” ethics and includes a five-day and four-night canoeing trip to explore the beautiful and scenic waters of the Current River.
Survival Rangers: Part of our 7-day/6-night Ranger Adventure Program, participants learn to find shelter, build fires, cook food and are put to the test with different survivor challenges.
Canoeing: Also part of our 7-day/6-night Ranger Adventure Program, this program teaches paddling techniques, fire and shelter building, and packing essentials to prepare participants for an amazing three-day and two-night canoeing trip down the Current River.
The staff at Camp Lakewood is trained in CPR and first aid, and staff that is lifeguard certified closely supervises all water activities. A medical professional is always available in our infirmary, and a local physician is on call to assist in emergencies.
