Food is Medicine: Why it Matters
Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025

Carbondale – Women’s Health Naturally Expo & Workshops (WHN) will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Carbondale Civic Center, 200 S. Illinois Ave, 9am-4pm.

This is the 11th annual WHN Expo, and it keeps growing every year. Hundreds of people have been touched by this event, and we believe this year will be the best one ever!

As people are increasingly facing chronic health issues and searching for more natural ways to get and stay healthy, they are hungry for information about natural health practitioners, remedies, products and lifestyle choices.

The theme this year is Food is Medicine: Why it Matters. Namingfood as medicine highlights the fundamental importance of nutrition in promoting and maintaining good health. The idea goes back thousands of years from the time of Hippocrates who is famous for saying, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” In our talks at Women’s Health Naturally 2025, we will discuss the current state of our food system in America, what it is that makes food medicine, how it impacts the biology of our body at different stages of life, and how to make informed choices that are essential to our health and wellbeing as well as the prevention of disease.

Anita Brown, Board Certified Naturopath and Certified Applied Functional Medicine Practitioner, will facilitate a discussion with a group of renowned natural healthcare practitioners in a Panel Discussion.

  • Dr. Terry Harmon, Functional Medicine Doctor and Chiropractor with advanced training and certifications in nutrition, detoxification, strength training, spinal correction, and pediatrics. Dr. Harmon is the founder of Chi Rho Wellness.
  • Susan Kamil, a nationally-board certified and licensed acupuncturist who has been practicing as an acupuncturist and clinical herbalist for 20+ years. BIO
  • Nina Dunavan, CPM is a Certified Professional Midwife in Southern IL and SEMO
  • Jill Rendleman, Organic Farmer and CSA, All Seasons Farm in Cobden, IL. LINK

Reflections on the 2024 WHN
