Bailing Out Benji is a unique, nonprofit organization founded right here in the Midwest that
seeks to eradicate the cruel puppy mill industry through academic and field research. We seek opportunities to talk with the community about safely obtaining their nextpet. At Bailing Out Benji, we believe that through education, advocacy, and grassroots activism,we can create a world where animals are treated with the same love and kindness that humans should also show one another.
A key focus of our nonprofit is combatting the puppy mill industry through extensive research. Our organization is concerned about facilities with numerous state or federal violations regarding overcrowded cages, unsanitary conditions, or lack of veterinary care, socialization, or exercise. The puppies bred in these puppy mill settings are frequently sold through pet stores and online websites, which perpetuates a cycle of cruelty and neglect.
Bailing Out Benji’s Missouri Team, Puppy Mill Free Missouri organizes twice-monthly peaceful protests at pet stores in Missouri, also known as the “puppy mill capital” of the United States. The demonstrations aim to raise public awareness about the origin of puppies and the suffering endured by their parents in puppy mills. These peaceful protests are not just expressions of opposition but calls for change.
Bailing Out Benji believes that by educating the public about the dark side of puppy mills, consumers will be more inclined to adopt pets from shelters or purchase from responsible breeders who prioritize animal welfare. The organization’s peaceful demonstrations aim to inform potential pet owners about the importance of ethical choices.
Furthermore, these peaceful protests serve as a platform to advocate for stronger regulations and enforcement against puppy mills. By highlighting the connection between pet stores and puppy mills, Bailing Out Benji hopes to influence legislative changes that will improve the lives of countless animals. Our efforts have already led to victories, such as local ordinances banning the sale of puppy mill dogs in pet stores in other states.
