Tips for Life! Make it Easy!

By Deb Powell, Healthy Planet columnist

Welcome to my new articles of proven ideas and strategies to make life better. I love learning and spent most of my life developing tricks for taking short cuts and making life easier. Anything from housework, staying healthy, making quick, nutritious, and delicious meals, saving money and time, self-care, having fun, and lots more…

As I mentioned in the last inspirational article, I am now in my lake front camper trailer until October, and I love it! The best thing I’ve done in a long time. Life is too short to NOT go after our dreams.

The first tip this month is: Don’t spit in a dry sink! Yes, that’s what I said! Get the sink wet before you brush your teeth, then, when you spit out your toothpaste, it won’t stick. Just rinse it away and your sink is clean. Especially handy for kids because they don’t usually clean up after themselves.

The second tip is: Hang Them! Yes, after washing your shirts and tops, put them in the dryer for a couple minutes, if needed to get the wrinkles out, then, hang on hangers spaced out in your closet. They will be dry tomorrow and ready to wear. Done!

Third tip for this month is: Buy quality! You’ll learn what’s quality, and what’s junk. Do your homework and purchase better brands, especially things you use most. You will save in the long run by not replacing so often.

Bonus tip: Buy rechargeable batteries! Make wise purchases when batteries are involved. Think: Is there a better item, or do I need to buy this at all? If you have to buy a battery operated item, choose rechargeable batteries as you will save a ton of money, and help the environment.

This cute little rock is Millie. My friend paints rocks and gives them away, and when I saw the bright colors and the beautiful smile on this one, I couldn’t help but smile too. Millie sits right on the window sill beside me where I write, and also spend way too much time with the binoculars watching the birds, and the otters, and the boats, and the sunrises, and the sunsets… enjoy each day.
