Recycling Works!

The St. Louis – Jefferson Solid Waste Management District is a regional agency that was created in 1993 to assist the public, private and nonprofit sectors in establishing and expanding programs for recycling and waste reduction. The service area includes the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Jefferson County and St. Charles County. Funding for this program is provided by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Jefferson County Recycling Center To Serve 30,000 Patrons

Jefferson County Recycling opened a manned recycling center in 2017 at 55 Elm St. Hillsboro, MO. Prior to opening the center, the County did not have a drop off spot operated by the County.

During the first year of operation the center welcomed around 3000 or so patrons. Since that time the center welcomes nearly 100 patrons daily. The center is on pace to serve nearly 30,000 patrons annually.

The Recycling Center is open 6 days a week:

  • Mon.-Tues.-Thurs.-Friday 8am-12pm
  • Wednesday 1-5pm
  • Saturday 9am-1pm
