Inspirations for Life! REBEL! That’s me!

By Deb Powell, Healthy Planet columnist

Pronounce it however you like, I’m a rebel, and I will rebel! I admitted while contemplating life this morning that I’ve always been a rebel. Being sexually abused for years as a child caused my attitude to be ‘no one will ever push me around me again’. It changed my life, made me strong, tough, and sometimes got me into trouble, but this was what gave me strength to protect myself, and stand up for what I believed in.

I had always believed in God, so I put this strength together with my faith and applied it to my health because it just made sense. Eating a mostly raw, vegan diet, did also. Don’t you think that’s how we ate in the beginning? I am rebelling against all the manmade, traditional, processed, and poisoned foods, so let’s be honest, they really are harming us.

I love nature. I’m talking the basics here: fresh air, sunshine, clean lakes and rivers, lots of delicious fresh fruits and vegetables, time spent walking, hiking, swimming, playing, laughing, sharing… We need to rid some of the man-made things we’ve created, thinking they are progress… They’re not.

With so much going on these days we need to be rebellious. Our lives depend on it. Don’t be rebellious for the sake of rebelling, but to stand up for yourself, for goodness, truth, safety, health, loved ones, dreams… Stand strong and pull together, there is strength in numbers.

If you don’t have anything to stand up for, you should. If nothing else, stand up for yourself. You are worthy and you have value. Then, find a good cause and help support it too. There are tons of people and causes that need you. We could change the world if we’d do more for others.

Update: I started eating a bit too much and a couple things I shouldn’t, and I’ve gained five pounds. I am not happy with myself! But give up? – I WILL NOT!!! Still aiming at my goal of losing 40 pounds and being healthy! It just proves how eating right is best!

It’s December, way too many foods… choose wisely, remember goals, stay strong!
