Don’t miss this chance to see first hand how others have integrated sustainable living practices into their yards and learn what you need to know to go green!

Register to attend, host, volunteer or sponsor by visiting our website: SustainableBackyard.org. The event is free, but those who register to attend will be entered into a drawing for prizes. A map with addresses and yard descriptions will be posted on the website, SustainableBackyard.org, one week prior to the tour. Guests can choose the locations they wish to visit and start wherever they like. Bicycling and carpooling is highly encouraged, to minimize guests’ carbon footprint. Some hosts will request masks be worn so we encourage everyone to add hand sanitizer and a mask to your sunscreen, hat and water bottle take-along list. And if you’re not feeling well that day, watch some of the new videos we will have on YouTube instead of attending in person.

Since 2011, the free Sustainable Backyard Tour has served St. Louis by sharing ways to live more sustainably, create health and build community. Over the years, more than 300 families have served as tour hosts, welcoming over 10,000 people into their backyards and homesteads to learn how they grow food, support biodiversity, conserve and manage rainwater and even generate energy.

The Sustainable Backyard Tour is supported in part by the William A. Kerr Foundation, Custom Foodscaping, Local Harvest Grocery, Forrest Keeling Nursery, Kitchen House Coffee, Kakao Chocolate, Tale to Table and Missouri Prairie Foundation.
