The perfect way to get unplugged from everyday life is to head out for a couple of days of camping, fishing and boating on Clearwater Lake. Located in heart of the Ozark Highlands, Clearwater Lake is a beautiful 1700-acre lake. The crystal clear Black River and several springs empty into the lake and attribute to its beauty. The lake is noted for the grandeur of the surrounding hills, the picturesque bluffs, wildflowers and indented bays. Considered by locals to be a hidden treasure, Clearwater Lake is a place where families can relax without large crowds and enjoy a little peace and quiet. Surrounded by three state parks, Clearwater Lake boasts excellent fishing, boating, and skiing, as well as canoeing on the nearby upper Black River. Restrictions created by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in order to preserve the lakes natural beauty have prevented private boat docks from being constructed on the lake, leaving plenty of open coastline for exploring.
Clearwater Lake is home to three campgrounds nestled in the hills surrounding the lake; Webb Creek Park, Bluff View Park and Piedmont Park. Three marinas provide gas, supplies, boat and wave runner rentals and boat rental slips. In addition, located nearby are two other campgrounds; River Road Park located on the Black River near the lake spillway and K Bridge Park that is located on Black River at the headway of Clearwater Lake. Summer events on the lake include a Poker Run on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday evening Storytelling at Webb Creek Park and Fireworks on the Lake on July 1st.
Ellington is centrally located and is only a short drive from Clearwater Lake, the Black River, as well as the beautiful Current River. When planning a visit, pack your bathing suit & hiking shoes. You will want to canoe, kayak or tube float on the Black River or Current River, hike the Ozark Trail or visit Blue Spring. A movie under the stars at one of Missouri’s last remaining drive-in theaters is a sure treat as is a visit to the Reynolds County Museum. There truly is something to be said for the beauty of the Ozark Highlands and outdoor activities are abundant.
We welcome you to visit, “unplug” and take in the serenity of Clearwater Lake and its surroundings. It is our hope that your visit will provide an opportunity to relax a bit and share quality time with family and friends while enjoying some fun in the sun. No doubt about it, this lake is an oasis from the hectic day to day life which makes it a perfect vacation destination. Clearwater Lake is located in Reynolds County between Ellington and Piedmont, Missouri.
