Innsbrook Nature Chautauqua
Missouri nature lovers are invited to visit Innsbrook for its first Nature Chautauqua on Sunday, June 5, from 1-3 pm. Chautauquas are lifelong-learning and community-building events appearing all across the country at scenic rural resorts. They have a rich history dating back to the early 20th century of bringing educational opportunities and cultural enrichment to rural communities that nourish the body, mind, and spirit. The June 5 program will feature topics on living, learning, and playing in harmony with nature. Local author and Webster-Kirkwood Times editor Don Corrigan will speak about the natural treasures and environmental challenges across Missouri as profiled in his numerous books. Next will be an ornithologist from the World Bird Sanctuary who will help us to recognize all the different raptors that call Missouri home, including Bald Eagles, and how we can maintain a healthy habitat for these majestic birds. Our final guest speaker will be a certified paddle sports instructor from the Alpine Shop who will provide an introduction to kayaking just in time for summer fun in the water. Permanent agriculture exhibit, “GROW” Opens At St. Louis Science Center
The agriculture exhibit will highlight the journey of food from farm to fork through 40 interactive exhibits, demonstrations and events. GROW is the first permanent exhibit of this size in the United States focused solely on agriculture. The exhibit will help visitors gain a deeper understanding of our food supply and the vital role we all play in the stewardship of our food.
