26th Annual World Peace Day: ‘This Is It!’ Love, Peace, Cooperation, Faith

by Jeannie Breeze

“This Is It!” – that’s the theme of the 26th annual World Peace Day, held at 6 a.m.,  Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman (at Kingshighway) in St. Louis’ Central West End. As we greet the arrival of 2012, we will celebrate the monumental paradigm shift prophesied for so many years in so many traditions, moving from fear to LOVE, from conflict to PEACE, from competition to COOPERATION, from doubt to FAITH! It’s time to be who we really are and shine our light into the world! It’s time to fully realize that Peace is an inside job, that, as Gandhi said, “We must be the change we wish to see!”

Please join us as this year’s event will feature the wonderful music of Dasha Ray, with Tim Mead & Brad Smith, the exuberant music of the Gateway to Agape Choir, with Pooki Lee & Bob Baker, storytelling and percussion by Robert Fishbone, and the bells & drums of JOIA World Percussion Ensemble. Rabbi Randy Fleisher will offer his warm and endearing welcome to the “Shelter of Peace” and event organizer Jeannie Breeze will guide the meditation. Luminarias will light the way in the darkness of the early morning, as doors open at 5:15 a.m. for silent prayer & meditation, and, as always, a potluck breakfast will follow the service (no pork please). This Universal Faith gathering is always FREE and Open to All, though your love donations are invited to insure the continuation of this marvelous event.

We need volunteers to come to the synagogue on Friday afternoon, Dec. 30 to help with preparation of the luminarias, as well as breakfast and sanctuary set-up, and lightworkers to light the luminaries starting at 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 31st. Please visit the event web site at www.wpdaystl.com for full details about the celebration and how you can help support it.

For more information or to volunteer to help on Friday, Dec. 30, please call Jeannie Breeze at 314-601-3789 or e-mail her at jbreeze46@aol.com.
