Experience the Holidays in a Wild New Way at the Saint Louis Zoo during U.S. Bank Wild Lights

 

Frolic and play this holiday season at the Saint Louis Zoo. Stroll through the Zoo’s enchanting holiday wonderland and enjoy thousands of colorful lights and seasonal sounds Fridays through Sundays, November 26-December 12 and nightly, December 17-23, 26-30, 2010 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

You’ll be dazzled by the vibrant light displays this year that include polar bears, prairie dogs in motion, an illuminated penguin colony, glowing life-size African elephant and giraffes, a festive train depot, and a jolly gingerbread village. Plus, flamboyant flamingos balancing, umpteen trees a-blazing, playful penguins splashing, a flashy butterfly garden and much more.

Step into the sub-Antarctic and go nose-to-beak with your waddling friends at Penguin & Puffin Coast. Cozy up by the fire as theatrical interpreters offer captivating storytelling. Barrel through deep ice ravines, villages and treacherous mountain terrain on the mesmerizing animated motion simulator ride “Glacier Run” (additional fee of $3 per person). Climb aboard your favorite animal on the Mary Ann Lee Conservation Carousel (additional fee of $3 per person).

Then, take a warm detour to Lakeside Cafe to sip hot chocolate and munch on snacks while listening to holiday music. Kids can make a holiday craft to take home. Shop Holiday Zootique from November 25 through December 24 for a variety of unique gift ideas, and receive a 10 percent discount on any purchase; Zoo Friends members receive a 20 percent discount.

Admission to Wild Lights is $5 per person; $4 for Zoo Friends members (no passes). Children under two are free. Reserva-tions are not required. Advance tickets may be purchased online at stlzoo.org. Groups of 15 or more may receive a group rate by calling (314) 646-4855 in advance.

Parking will be available for free on the South Lot on Wells Drive near Highway 40. Enter the event through the South Entrance. The Living World North Entrance and North Parking Lot will not be open for this event.
