McCaughen and Burr was founded in 1840 and is the oldest continuously operating art gallery west of the Mississippi River. Stone Hollow Studio
Known for award-winning, hand-etched scrimshaw since 1979, Michelle “Mike” Ochonicky (Arts Editor for The Healthy Planet!) has operated Stone Hollow Studio for 31 years. Mike recycles antique piano keys for bookmarks and framed pieces, giving new life to what would be discarded. Her mediums also include detailed pen-and-ink drawings and photography. Mike’s artwork resides in collections worldwide, from the Missouri Governor’s Mansion to the Dedalo Museum of Contemporary Art in Italy.
