Situated in beautiful Ste. Genevieve County, Crown Valley Winery is a premier destination to enjoy incredible wines in a fun, easy going atmosphere. Now seven years old, Crown Valley Winery was opened in April 2003 by owners Mr. & Mrs. Joe Scott. As a child, Mr. Scott spent summers in Coffman on his grandfather’s farm. The area always held a special place in his heart. In 1984 he returned to the area to establish a ranch. And then in 1998 Mr. Scott planted his first five acres of vineyards. As the vines began to mature, so did his thoughts of starting a winery.
Today, Crown Valley Winery offers their customers over 40 different wines, all of which are available for tasting. Patrons can purchase a Standard Tasting of 5 wines for $6.00 and keep their glass as a souvenir. Or they can upgrade to a Limited Tasting for $12 allowing them to try the limited edition wines. With this tasting they receive a Riedel Norton wine glass as a souvenir. For $8.00, guests can participate in a tour of the facility and a Standard Tasting is included. With so many options, guests will surely find a favorite or two.
In addition to the wines, the winery offers fun events throughout the year. April through October there is live music every Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m. There are also several events throughout the year such as the Berry Festival in July, Island Sunsplash in August and the Harvest Hayride the last Friday in October, where guests will enjoy an array of fun activities and specials. Don’t forget to try one of their famous bison burgers at the Music Pavilion, too.
Although the winery is a great destination, there are other locations in the area highlighting the beauty and diversity Crown Country has to offer, such as the Farmer’s Market. The Farmer’s Market, open seven days a week 8am – 3pm, offers an array of plants and vegetables grown onsite in the green houses and gardens. Also, still operating, the ranch provides natural Bison and Beef. And there is close lodging available at one of the six bed & breakfasts in the area.
Mr. Scott’s vision was to create a destination showcasing the beauty and bounty this countryside provides. Crown Valley’s mission is to make wine approachable to everyone and to create a product that will challenge the market to identify Missouri as a producer of quality wines.
