8th Annual Clean Air Festival Set For May 19 In Kiener Plaza

On Thursday, May 19, the St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership will host its 8th annual Clean Air Festival at Kiener Plaza in Downtown St. Louis from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The event will mark the official start of air quality forecasting for the summer season and provide those in attendance with a wealth of information on how they can go green and do their share for cleaner air year-round.
Through a variety of interactive exhibits, the Clean Air Festival is designed to educate individuals on the health effects of poor air quality and demonstrate how the steps we take to live greener can reduce the emissions that lead to poor air quality and improve the health of residents across the region. These steps include carpooling or using transit; walking or biking instead of driving; choosing to recycle and turning off appliances that aren’t in use.

The event will feature live music from the Soulard Blues Band and the Green Strum Project, complementary Ted Drewes frozen custard, prize giveaways and the chance to win St. Louis Cardinals tickets. A host of exhibitors will also be present, including the American Lung Association of the Plains-Gulf Region, Citizens for Modern Transit, Earthways Center, Madison County Transit, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Air Pollution Program, the Missouri Department of Transportation, RideFinders, the St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership, Trailnet, the U.S. Green Building Council-Missouri Gateway Chapter, WeCar and White Caps, Green Collars, LLC.

If you live or work downtown, are planning to head to Busch Stadium to see the Cardinals play, or just want to learn more about how you can do your part to help the region breathe easier, we invite you to join us. The entire event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
