Irresistible Community Builders Presents: Causing A Greener, Greater St. Louis

by Tom & Carol Braford

On Friday, April 8th, several people who have big visions for what is possible in the region will assemble in St. Louis for a Getting it Built workshop. The ‘it’ that will be getting built in this case is a greener culture and economy in our region as a model for how to achieve that everywhere.
One key focus of the workshop will be to create a plan to draw on the many ecological and cultural strengths of the region to build a network of Integral Urban Ecovillages that will address challenges faced by many cities across the country, like emergency preparedness, water, food, energy, housing and employment security, replacement of aging centralized utilities, reducing social fragmentation and urban sprawl and a realignment of our economy.

The early session will bring together those interested in living and/or working in ecovillages and their related cooperatively owned business ventures, as well as owners and investors of other potential Integral Urban Ecovillage sites that we will ‘Green Line’ on the map and representatives of candidates to be ‘Green Edge’ neighborhoods that will pledge to bring ecovillage-type services and opportunities to their areas.

The later session will focus on bringing the idea for a network of Integral Urban Ecovillages together with other green ideas in the region to create opportunities for collaboration that will fulfill on all of them.

On Saturday a final session will bring together all those with green visions with many other ideas from other sessions held throughout the week to form, connect and create ways to fulfill on all of it.
Rachel Davis, an internationally known transformation leader, will facilitate all sessions and will be assisted by St. Louis’ You and I Collaboration for Abundance.

If you are interested or have questions, please contact us. We will post the latest information on the workshop on our website, along with how to register.
