YMCA Book Fair Call For Volunteers

It takes some 400 volunteers and 8,000 volunteer hours to pull off one of our region’s most notable book fairs – the annual YMCA Bookfair.

Volunteers are currently needed to sort and price books at the Historic Cardonelet 600 Loughborough Ave. 63111 and during the YMCA Bookfair, August 19-24, at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 6050 Wells Road, 63128.

Information on the Book Fair and volunteer opportunities is available at www.ymcabookfair.org or contact Bookfair@ymcastlouis.org or call 314-353-4960.
2011 celebrates the 33rd anniversary of the YMCA Bookfair. Started in 1978 by a group of dedicated YMCA volunteers who raised several hundred dollars for the Y by holding a small, one-day book fair in the gymnasium.

The YMCA Bookfair has now grown into a six-day event. So far, the YMCA Bookfair has raised more than $1 million for the Y and our outreach programs. The YMCA Bookfair is a collaborative project that includes several Y organizations & community volunteers dedicated to assisting the Y in its mission, in particular our youth and literacy programs. Among its efforts to this end is the YMCA Bookfair, which provides a large selection of new and quality used books at reasonable prices.
The YMCA Bookfair would not be possible without our volunteers!

The YMCA Bookfair is an event that you must see to believe! The preparation process begins in March and ends with the event in August.

Volunteering at the YMCA Bookfair is a great way to connect with other book lovers.
This year we need help with: book and box pick ups; book sorting; bookfair set-up and take down
Please contact Bookfair@ymcastlouis.org or call 314-353-4960 to volunteer
