REKNOWN YOGA TEACHER COMES TO ST. LOUIS
Shakta Kaur Khalsa is an IKYTA certified Kundalini Yoga instructor
of 26 years, a teacher-trainer, a certified Montessori educator,
and a 500 hour member of Yoga Alliance. Shakta is an internationally
recognized teacher of yoga for both adults and children. She is
the author of, Keep It Simple Series (KISS) Guide to Yoga, Kundalini
Yoga, and Fly Like a Butterfly: Yoga for Children. Her new book,
Yoga for Women will be out this fall. Shakta is known for her
friendly, humorous, and deeply penetrating style of teaching.
We feel honored that Shakta will be coming to the St. Louis area,
October 18-20, 2002.
Shakta will be teaching 3 different types of classes: All of
which you do not need yoga experience to participate in.
Friday October 18 - KUNDALINI WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS. Kundalini
yoga is about your inner spirit and is very doable for the average
person. It consists of both held and moving postures coordinated
with strong breathing patterns. The positive effects of Kundalini
can be experienced in a matter of minutes.
Saturday October 19 - "RADIANT CHILD YOGA PROGRAM".
This will be an 8 hour teacher-training course with a certificate
of course completion. This is for teachers, parents, and anyone
who would like to teach children yoga. Yoga helps children focus
and be aware, relax and balance their emotions, and have strong,
well-coordinated bodies. More and more professionals who work
with autism, special needs, sensory integration, learning disabilities,
and ADD/ADHD are being trained in children's yoga, with great
results. There is a natural affinity between these children and
yoga, since yoga addresses the whole child, including the brain/body
connection.
Sunday October 20 - PARENT/CHILD YOGA CLASS. This is a wonderful
class to take to observe and participate in a children's yoga
class. It's like a yoga party!
This 3 day event is being hosted by Many Hearts Yoga. The mission
statement of Many Hearts Yoga is: As a group we are dedicated
to increase the awareness of yoga in the St. Louis area, by sharing
the joy and our love of yoga through workshops, seminars and classes.
We want others to experience the many benefits that yoga brings
to the emotional, mental, and physical aspect of everyday life.
