Taste of Vegan Fest Set for June 8 at the Ferguson Community Center

The second annual Taste of Vegan Festival is happening here in St. Louis on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the City of Ferguson Community Center (1050 Smith Ave. Saint Louis, MO 63135) from 10am to 6pm. Get ready for a day filled with FUN, ENLIGHTENMENT and most importantly FOOD! If you’ve never tasted good vegan food, in the words of Kevin Hart, “you gonna learn today”!! We want people to see that plant based food can be delicious and nutritious without containing harmful ingredients.

With this exciting, free, family friendly event we intend to give our neighbors and families the necessary tools and information to take back the responsibility of our communities’ wellness and life. Speakers will discuss the steps needed to take control of our health and to understand the impact of diet on our mental and physical wellness. A variety of vendors will provide tasty nutritious options, along with other healthy and health sustaining products. We will also have a kids’ corner, a variety of performances, food demonstrations, Zumba, yoga, and more!!

Our Goal is to increase health literacy and preventive health behavior among youth and their parents and make people think about what we are putting in and on our bodies. We would be honored for all our community neighbors, religious institutions, organizations, and businesses to help us fulfill and celebrate this exciting and timely event! This is the prime opportunity for you to connect with community consumers, distribute information to promote your business and our shared goal of enlivening our community to celebrate life!

Unhealthy diets now kill more people than tobacco and high blood pressure, according to a study released by CBS News on April 3, 2019. The Lancet medical journal recently reported that over 11 million people die annually from unhealthy diets and millions more suffer from chronic and debilitating diseases. The death rate from poor diet exceeds smoking, alcohol, and hypertension. We are pleased to have Ms. Jessica Slaughter, age 86, at our event to share how she lost 120 pounds by changing to a plant based diet and walking daily in her one bedroom apartment. She is an inspiration to young and old alike. Mrs. Slaughter was recently interviewed on KSDK news, and People magazine. She is scheduled to appear on the Steve Harvey Show in June.
