Weekly Mastery of Consciousness Class
7:30 PM until 10:30 PM. September 4th is the Registration night for our main course of study. This class will meet every Monday night at the School of Metaphysics branch in Maplewood. We will learn about the 3 Crown Jewels of Consciousness: Concentration, Meditation and Visualization as well as Dream Interpretation and understanding various Holy Works through the Universal Language of Mind. We also will discover how to balance life with understanding the Universal Laws with which we are working daily. The main goal for this course is to become one who responds to life with awareness and allows you to give to others in the highest ways. A $20 suggested donation for each week. Eco-Art Takes Center Stage at the Mississippi Earthtones Festival
The Mississippi Earthtones Festival returns to the Riverbend in a free, family-friendly, day-long celebration of art, music and sustainability. “This year’s event has a strong sustainable energy education and positive energy art components,” says Christine Favilla, Three Rivers Project Co-Coordinator for Alton’s Sierra Club. “We are very involved with the Solarize Metro East Program, a community-wide residential and commercial discount program offering distributed solar energy arrays that rolled out in April 2016. We can’t wait to share the results of this endeavor as well as educating residents, businesses, farms, and non-profits of the state and federal incentives and the base discount that further reduce the cost of going solar and will end September 30, 2018.”
The Mississippi Earthtones Festival, MEF, co-organized by Alton Main Street and the Sierra Club, is a celebration of our river through art, music, and conservation. This 12th Annual event promises to attract thousands of people Noon to 10:00 p.m. Alton Main Street focuses on the art and small business components while the Sierra Club is concerned with the conservation and education components. Local artists of all types are being recruited to fill the grounds with beauty and creativity, while enhancing the festival for visitors through interactive art experiences. In addition, there will be dozens of local artisans and upcyclers selling their nature-inspired, hand-made, and environmentally-friendly wares.
There will be several agencies on hand to teach consumers how to incorporate more sustainable practices into their daily lives, along with companies featuring Earth-friendly products and services. Wind-powered music will fill the air throughout the day. The entertainment line-up includes the soaring harmonies of Rogers & Neinhaus as well as Jake’s Leg performing their interpretation of the music of the Grateful Dead, as they have been doing in the St. Louis region for over 35 years, and organized drum circles for all ages.
Volunteers are needed for the festival grounds, and for a litter clean-up by boat from 9am-Noon the following Saturday.
