St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival
The 11th Annual St. Louis Heritage Festival is the premier showcase of the St. Louis beer scene. This festival features over 100 styles of beer from over 50 greater St. Louis area breweries, as well as the year’s Collaboration Festival Beer, home brew club tastings, a Rare Tapping Tent, live music and great food all in an idyllic setting beneath the Gateway Arch along the Mississippi River. stlbeer.org.

Lafayette Square Home/Garden Tour
The 48th annual Lafayette Square Spring Home & Garden Tour will be held June 3 and 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in historic Lafayette Square, 2023 Lafayette Ave. Twelve distinctive homes and two private gardens will be featured on the tour. The tour homes range from Victorian-era painted ladies to condominiums in the reclaimed former St. Louis City Hospital. One of the featured gardens, Hamilton Farms Garden, employs aeroponic technology to support the “farm-to-table” menus of neighborhood restaurants. The tour will also commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Park House, which was built in 1867 to serve as a police station. Tickets are $20 per person in advance or $25 per person the day of the tour; free for children under the age of 12. 7th Annual Sustainable Backyard Tour
Now in its 7th year, the tour is an unusual animal. It’s free. Everyone is welcome. It takes place in private yards all over the St. Louis region. A grassroots, all-volunteer event, The Sustainable Backyard Tour recognizes that we flourish or fail together, that it is up to us as individuals and communities to share what we know and do better. This year there are more than 40 locations on the Tour that you can walk, bike or drive to on your own self-guided route. There is no starting point. ENERGY STAR & Historic Preservation: Satisfying Both Standards
This seminar will explore a number of residential gut rehabs completed in St. Louis since 2007 that have achieved both ENERGY STAR certification and met Missouri Historic Preservation Standards. The presenter will examine the elements that contribute to energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and human health in these projects, including geo-thermal systems and Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems. Additionally discussed will be the materials contributing to these projects’ high performance and the consideration taken when selecting building elements such as windows, insulation, fans, fixtures, venting, and more. Disinvestment & Reinvestment in Midwestern Cities
Olon Dotson, a professor at Ball State in Indiana, will discuss the social dimension of sustainability, examining from an architectural perspective the distress and abandonment commonly found in the cores of American cities resulting from de-industrialization, historic segregation and discrimination patterns, suburban sprawl, erosion of a viable tax base, crumbling infrastructure systems, and environmental justice issues. He will share how reflecting directly on these “fourth world conditions” as a product of the racialization of place can help the architecture and other development professions begin to tackle them productively. Mr. Dotson will be joined by Sal Martinez, the current board president of the Community Builders Network and the executive director of Community Renewal and Development, Inc. Mr. Martinez will present some of the latest development initiatives underway in the Near North neighborhoods of St. Louis. Power Grid Resilience

PrideFest 2017 “Community Proud”
Our grand marshal this year will be Cleve Jones, a founding activist in the LGBT rights movement, author of “When We Rise”, the book on which the ABC miniseries was based, founder of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, and friend to Harvey Milk. At PrideFest this year, we’ll be asking for $5 upon entry, joining many other Pride organizations around the country. Your contribution is an investment back into the community. Five dollars will support our five central initiatives: PrideCenter, outreach, education, scholarship, and festival. We understand that many people may not be able to afford the $5 entry. We’re dedicated to serving everyone, and as such, we will be providing tickets that community organizations can distribute to people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.
