Michael Webb Teaches Prajna Yoga at YogaSoure

Michael Webb teaches a style of yoga known as Prajna Yoga, taught to him by master teacher Tias Little. The word prajna is a sanskrit word meaning insight, deep understanding and wisdom. This style of yoga emerged as Tias integrated the alignment principles of BKS Iyengar with the breath awareness and flow of Astanga, along with yogic and Buddhist philosophy and bodywork therapeutics.

The name prajna suggests an embodied wisdom; a knowing that potentially permeates a clear and open mind. This is the same quality that drew Michael to Tias and his teachings when they first met. Michael’s teaching comes from a place of deeply integrating the Prajna teachings of the last several years of practice. In Michael’s Prajna class, one can expect alignment based asana practice, chanting, meditation, philosophy and yoga therapeutics with heart opening focus.

Michael began his study of yoga with Tias in 1999 when he was studying Polarity Therapy at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. Tias taught the yoga classes within that curriculum. Though Michael had studied martial arts for 15 years hatha yoga was new to him. He was immediately impressed with Tias, not only with his mastery of the asanas, but also Tias’ quality of being, a depth of embodiment he possess.

After completing his Polarity Therapy degree Michael remained in Santa Fe and continued to study yoga with Tias. He has since completed his 200 hour teacher with a group of extraordinary teachers: Tias, Surya (Tias’ wife), Elisa Commerce and Nicholai Backman.

As a teacher Michael is very generous, compassionate, down to earth and accessible. He is also a licensed massage therapist. Michael teaches Prajna Yoga at YogaSource on Sunday mornings 9:30-11am, Wednesday evenings 7:30-9pm and Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-7:30am.
