Irresistible Community Builders Presents: Occupy Adult as Possibility: The Next Level of Human Evolution?

by Tom & Carol Braford

At first we took on strengthening community by building a model cohousing community in St Louis. Over time, the project has morphed into something much more ambitious that requires your assistance and active engagement.
We are now out to support a sustainable culture, environment and economy in St Louis and beyond by creating Culver Way Ecovillage as an Integral Ecovillage prototype, a network of Integral Ecovillages in the region and a chain of Integral Ecovillage prototypes across the country and around the world.

While we have attracted growing attention and support from the grassroots community and some community leaders in St Louis and around the country, we are challenged by the same fragmentation of will and energy that is causing the unraveling of the existing order everywhere.

Many say that what is driving all of this is a crisis in human maturity, that as a species, most of us are still thinking and acting in adolescent ways.

People occupy their individual adolescent worlds where they view responsibility as a burden, rather than an opportunity to empower themselves and others, or as a necessary evil that a few of us must gallantly shoulder for the good of the hive.

Leaders in the scientific community, like Dr. Irwin Laszlo, even say that civilization and the planet as we know it now hang in the balance and that we as a species have a choice, culturally evolve now or die out.

It may seem contradictory, but the world of really responsible adults is most early accessed through play with fun and ease. So I invite you to come play with me in the sandbox I call Integral Ecovillage development. Together we can occupy adult as possibility and create irresistible socially, environmentally and economically transforming communities of proximity that will literally turn the most seemingly intractable challenges in St Louis and beyond into child’s play.

Come to a conversation, “Exploring Your Passion,” from 2:00 to 4:00, on Sunday, May 20. See if there is an alignment between what you love to do and what we are up to. If there is a match, we invite you to join us in the implementation of a “Super Organization,” based on everyone doing what they love to do and collaborating fully.
Also, join us on Saturday, May 19th for our monthly orientation and tour of the Ecovillage at 11:00, followed by a potluck lunch.
