“Stop the World – I Want to Get Off” was a popular Broadway Musical in the 1960’s.  Some people living in the ever changing and fast paced world today may have thoughts similar to the title of this show.  They may try various methods to overcome the challenges of their daily activities and responsibilities.  They seek peace and harmony in their lives.

Meditation is an effective way to find inner peace by connecting with the unchanging silence within you.  Practicing meditation allows you to weave silence and stillness into your mind and body.

One of the most common myths about meditation is a belief that you must force your mind to be quiet when you meditate.  Meditation is not about forcing your mind to be quiet.  Meditation is finding the quiet that is already there.

Meditation may not change what is happening in your life.  Meditation can change how you perceive and respond to these events which will bring  reduced stress, better health and  more self-fulfillment.

Perhaps you have already decided that you cannot meditate because you think you don’t have time for an addition to your daily “To Do” list. The investment of taking time to meditate each day has many rewards.  Those who meditate regularly often experience  accomplishing more in less time because meditation helps them reduce stress which results in giving them more energy and improved concentration.

People who meditate on a daily basis are usually healthier. Doctors are increasingly citing stress as a major contributing factor to most illness.  Research has shown meditation to be beneficial for a wide range of health problems.  As stress is greatly eliminated through meditation, our minds and bodies experience greater health and vitality.

Inner peace and reducing stress are important benefits of meditation. Other benefits include better sleep, reduced blood pressure, less anxiety and improved relationships.  A regular meditation practice enhances your daily living.  Meditation also helps you connect with your spirit.

Primordial Sound Meditation is a program developed by Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D.  This meditation technique originated in the ancient wisdom of  India.  Primordial Sounds are the basic, most essential sounds of nature.  Selected sounds, known as mantras, are based on the vibrations in the universe at the moment of your birth.  Once your Primordial Sound mantra has been determined, you will be taught how to use it and how to integrate this practice into your daily routine.

Primordial Sound Meditation is easy to learn and easy to practice.  The class is taught in four sessions over a period of two days.  Make meditation part of your life and enjoy its benefits!

Shirley Stoll is certified by Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D. to teach Primordial Sound Meditation.  The next class will be held March 24 & 25, 2012 at the Maria Center in St. Louis.  Advance registration is required.  Meditation classes can also be arranged for individuals and groups.  Discounts are available for senior citizens, full time students and active military.
